Design it. Build it. Code it. Make it move.
How does a robot navigate a warehouse, assist a surgeon, or explore Mars? In Robotics Technologies, students find out by designing, building, programming, and testing robots of their own. Offered as a four-course sequence, the program brings together engineering, coding, electronics, and artificial intelligence through real-world challenges.
What students will learn
- The engineering design process, applied to real-world problems
- Robot design, construction, and iterative improvement
- Programming robots with industry-standard concepts
- Electrical circuits, motors, actuators, and power systems
- Sensors, controllers, and automated feedback systems
- Mechanical systems: gears, chains, belts, and structural components
- 3D modeling with computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing
- Artificial intelligence, machine vision, and autonomous navigation
- Testing, troubleshooting, and systems integration
Inside the classroom
Students build and wire robots in electronics labs, take on programming and autonomous navigation challenges, model and print parts, present technical designs, and compete in robotics competitions and design reviews when available.
